Originally tapas were simply saucers placed on top of glasses of wine to prevent flies from wandering in. Then bar owners began offering free nibbles such as almonds, cheese and olives.   Most Mediterranean countries have their own “Tapas”, Meze from Greece to the Middle East, Kemia in North Africa and Petiscos in Portugal.

Here at Casa del Mar we offer a great variety of Mediterranean specialities in miniature form for everyone to share and therefore enjoy this unique type of communal eating. Diners usually choose 3 or 4 tapas each, ending up with a great variety of dishes to share.  Enjoy!
